P Money – Money Over Everyone (Out Soon)

From the streets of South London barring as part of young collective Fatal Assassins, P Money has come a long way. Commonly mentioned as a part of peoples top 10 MC’s, the 21 year old MC has proved that hard work pays off, and that there is some power in the form of free download..

2008s Coins 2 Notes

2008's 'Coins 2 Notes'

‘Coins 2 Notes’ was essentially the break P Money needed. Popular tunes included ‘My Soldiers 2′, ‘Switch’, ‘Money On My Mind’ and a version of G-Dubs popular production ‘Jezebel’. This certainly propelled P to higher places, appearing on radio sets everywhere including Tim Westwood’s BBC 1Xtra show, where he fired shots at East London MC Ghetts.

Later on that year, as a promo to his later coming mixtape P dropped ‘A Little Back Then With Now’, another free venture containing even more shots for Ghetts.

A Little Back Then With Now

A Little Back Then With Now

‘The Grime Scene PT 1″ was a clever song using the names of various different MC’s and CD titles to rhyme and “Sounds and Gimmicks (only a preview then’ used various MC’s trademark bars and noises to create a quite stunning song ! ‘The Other One‘ was radio rip with Money for Ghetts containing the lyrics:

“NA it’s not Kano…..It’s the OTHER ONE”.

‘Who’s Next’ is rip from another westwood show, this time Money guns for Scorcher, and makes reference to Schorcher’s time in prison. Neither Ghetto or Scorcher have directly replied to or addressed the situation until this recent video with Wiley and Ghetts.

The promo did certainly generate hype for his mixtape,  ‘P Money Is Power’.

I rated the mixtape number 1 in my overall top 10 for 2008. Not everyone seemed to agree with me, many complained that the quality of productions let it down (those like DJ Moky, Mastermind etc) but many agreed the vocal qualities were good with great tunes like the OG’s remix of ‘What Did He Say’.

Now P Money is ready to drop his latest project before his album, this one entitled “Money Over Everyone”.

It’s a good cover, note the artists names on the walls.

Little Dee – Once In A Blue (Out August)

Well where to start ?! If you don’t know about 20 year old MC Little Dee then where have you been for the past 5 years. Originally introduced to the grime scene via now vanished crew ‘Fatal Assasins’, with MC’s P Money, McKenzie, Firmer D, Blacks  & Supah Jay plus more, Little Dee has always been on the tip of people’s tongues, be it positive or negative.

Little Dee @ Chockablock

Little Dee @ Chockablock

“I writ a bar showed N.E, n he said that I got the potentials, N that I should keep on writing and one day I should be in Essentials” – an excerpt taken from Little Dee’s song ‘Sometimes’.

Unfortunatly, Essentials never were to make it due to differences between various crew members and via that fall out crew members Jendor and N.E teamed up with Dot Rotten to bring us the crew ‘Organised Grime’ (or OG’s as they’re more commonly known). Dee is now apart of that crew and had input on there 1st mixtape ‘OG Season Vol.1′.

Little Dee is now also a member of veteran grime collective Roll Deep, appearing on the tune “Give Up” which appeared on there latest album “Return Of The Big Money Sound”.

He’s affiliation with there main man Wiley saw Dee at number 3 on the MTV Base charts along with Eski and Manga on the song My Mistakes. Wiley had stuck with “Littles” for some time and Dee has appeared on 4 of Will’s Tunnel Vision mixtapes, as well as being signed to his label ‘Eskibeat Recordings’.

It was Dee’s 1st solo mixtape however, that got everyone talking.

Filled with a consistent and varied 24 tracks, 2007’s Don’t Let The Name Trick You propelled Dee to new heights, with songs such as “F Off Offcier”,  “Real Talk”, “Jezebel” & “I’m Watching” making the release a thought in many people’s top 10 lists.

But 2 years later, Dee is ready to drop his latest CD “Once In A Blue”.

“There’s No Need To Call Names…”

On a monday night, there would be nothing more I’d like to do than sit in the confinments of my bedroom, listening to Logan Sama’s Kiss FM show.

But in more recent weeks, that disease commonly known as Cream Crackered-ism (Tired, for those less cockney readers) has overcome that particular desire of mine, so I’m forced to piece together comments from the forum with youtube-d audio rips.

So after doing my Sherlock Homes act it was of great pleasure for me to stumble across this

Yep. That’s right. Indeed you saw and heard correctly, Little Dee teams up with the almighty musical forces of Wiley, Chipmunk, Maverick, Scorcher and Brazen (Yeah I know, Brazen, where did he go ??) !! The songs called Walk Da Walk, I dunno when or where you can get it, but my oh my what a banger !!

That’s my Logan Tune Of The Week (<LOL) . Last weeks tune was Wiley & Shifty Vs Ghetts & Devlin. Oh and stay tuned for a new Devlin post.

Peace ;)

3…2…1…………GO !

I havn’t listened to the Logan Sama show on Kiss FM for a while now, I find I just don’t have the time to stay awake on Monday’s like that. But, it seems last night should’ve been the night I locked in.

And that’s possibly down to this one song alone

Wiley & Shifty Vs Devlin & Ghetts – 1 2 3

The tune is well and truly nuts !! WIley’s on the production, each MC does ALOT.COM.

I don’t listen to many MC’s from outside of London (it’s not a bias thing I just don’t have time) but of those I do Shifty is defiantly one of the better ones. Many have stuck with the opinion that Devlin has fallen off as of late, but after this and London City, it’s fair to say he’s pushing his Dagenham shoulders back into the game. Ghetts is doing alot lately, watch out for his next mix tape “Calm Before The Storm” dropping before the debut album “Rebel With A Cause”. But the best MC on this track has to be Wiley. His flow is mental !! Look out for the next Wiley album “The Illusive” dropping some time in September and also the next single “She Likes To”:

BIG OR WHAT ?!?!

BIG OR WHAT ?!?!

But for now people, enjoy the song, it’s a banger. Peace.

Absolutely Butterz !!!

BUTTERZ

BUTTERZ

Butterz

adj;

1. Displeasing to the eye; unsightly.

2. Someone of whom is very unpleasant to look upon because of their features.

3. One of Grime’s biggest blogs ran by two talented DJ’s.

The 3rd of those definitions is surely the most accurate. Elijah & Skilliam are two DJ’s who currently hold a fortnightly 1-3 am spot on legendary pirate radio station Rinse FM. I’ve been listening to there shows as of late and must say I’m quite impressed.

“Well we go up there knowing what we want to do before hand, normally its playing upfront grime music” . And that’s exactly what they do. Not to say they can’t have a laugh in the process though. May 15th’s show provided great laughter when, an hour through the show, Spyro turnt up completely off his face ! Yet at the same time, managed to provide us with great mixing along with JJ. You can grab that show here.

They’ve also had a varitey of guests on there show. Rude Kid passed through at the start of the month to showcase some bits from his forthcoming Instrumental CD and last night they held a live phone conversation with Skepta. That’s not the only thing getting the fans motivated. “It’s been important to spread the download of the show around that’s why the show is getting a little rep”. I respect the DJ’s who make the effort to make sure people listen to there show, whether it’s live on air or 2 days later. Most DJ’s will wait and leave the show to be uploaded onto the podcast, but not these guys.

They love the fans reaction as well. “Its good getting a kind of live reaction while playing this music, even though you can’t see the people, but the reaction on the MSN and Grimeforum does motivate you.” The fan situation isn’t always comfortable though, I asked Elijah where he would like to see the show in future, “Hopefully at a sociable time, the 1-3 limits how many people can listen live init.

Hopefully, they can find a more suitable time for their audience and continue to bring more and more fantastic shows like those from this month.

6/5/09 w/ Rude Kid – http://bit.ly/rudekidshow. A preview of whaat’s to come from “Are You Ready”, his new Instrumental CD.

15/05/09 w/ Spyro & JJ http://bit.ly/jjspyro. Spyro turns up completely off his face whilst JJ bangs out a fantastic mix.

29/5/09 w/Skepta – http://bit.ly/skeptashow. A showcase of the Butterz duo’s favourite tunes of the year so far, with an interesing phonecall to Skepta, about Microphone Champion & various other bits.

Saturday Tune Round Up (23/05/2009)

Before I hit you all with a blizzard of seriously overdue reviews, a round up off the weeks music, courtesy of the guys down at Grime Daily !

The collaboration from The Streets Mike Skinner adds an excellent touch to the emotional Giggs tune.

The intro track from Wooly At Heart, with Crayzee Banditt on production. Go and get that mixtape now it’s completely fucked !

Not one of the weeks best tunes but it’s a step up from Chip Diddy Chip I suppose.

Taken from Money Over Everyone, this is the latest to come from P Money. It works well with the Pro2jay prodcution but doesn’t work as well as previous concept tunes i.e Talking To Trainers & The Grime Scene.

Little Dee said on Monday’s Logan Sama show that new producer Slick Vic was a cannon and he wasn’t far wrong. Taken from Once In A Blue this is destined to be a hit !

Also finnaly big up to DJ Score 5 who had his very 1st show on Rinse Fm this week. Download Here. (Warning: contains highly explosive Revolver – Wiley Diss)

So that’s it the best for this weeks Grime & Rap tunes and remmber, let’s keep grime movng !!
